QUESTIONS ABOUT:
LASER HAIR REMOVAL, PIGMENTED LESIONS & VEIN TREATMENTS

How does it work?

The laser combines two different and very powerful laser wavelengths that attack the hair follicle and completely destroy it - making hair re-growth in the targeted area impossible.  The laser emits a powerful beam of light that passes through the skin and targets many hair follicles at once.  This means we can solve your unwanted hair problems in less time.  Our laser treatment is faster, safer and more effective.

Does it hurt or is it painful?

The treatment may cause minimal discomfort or be mild to moderately uncomfortable.  During the treatment with the laser, you may experience a slight prickly sensation or hear the laser snap & feel a snapping sensation.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments is generally determined by the amount of hair, phase of hair growth, area of the body, skin color, hair color and coarseness.  Generally, we recommend 5-6 treatments at 4 - 6 week intervals between treatments.  The laser specialist will determine the number of treatments recommended and the amount of time for the treatments at the end of the consultation.

For veins, only one or two treatments are required and the results will be seen in 3-4 weeks.

Are there any side effects?

There may be redness and some slight localized swelling, but this usually subsides within the first 24 hours after treatment.

Does it permanently remove the hair, age spots or veins?

Long lasting hair removal can be achieved with laser hair removal. Total temporary hair removal, which lasts for several months, can be done in almost all patients.  Some permanent hair reduction in treated areas is possible, especially after multiple treatments. Total permanent hair removal may depend on the amount of hair, the area of the body, skin & hair color & coarseness & number of treatments. Total permanent hair removal, while desirable, is not always possible. Total temporary hair removal lasting several months is a reasonable expectation.

After age spots have been removed, other spots may appear after a time due to further sun damage to the skin. It is important to apply sunscreen daily to exposed areas of the skin to prevent new age spots from appearing.

What does it cost?

There are circumstances where the laser specialist will actually need to see you before she can give an accurate quote.  The area of hair removal, size of area, amount of hair and the amount of time will determine the cost of the treatment.  For pigmented lesions and veins, it will depend on the number and size of the area and the amount of time to treat the area.

QUESTIONS AND INFORMATION ABOUT:
MICRODERMABRASION

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair facial skin that is damaged by the sun or the effects of aging.  The microdermabrasion machine sprays tiny crystals across the face, mixing a gentle abrasion with suction to remove the dead, outer layer of skin.  Microdermabrasion  provides a deep exfoliation and cleansing of the skin pores. As with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment will be needed to reduce fine wrinkles and unwanted pigmentation and to improve skin tone.

Why microdermabrasion?

Skin reproduces itself approximately every 28 days.  A newborn skin cell, or epidermal cell, pushes its way to the surface leaving a dead cell on the skin surface.  This often can cause clogged or enlarged pores, and a bumpy looking skin.  As we age, this process slows down leading to the appearance of older and less radiant skin. In addition to the regular skin reproduction, the skin’s appearance is determined by its exposure to potentially harmful environmental influences such as direct sunlight and air pollution. .

Who is a candidate for microdermabrasion?

Men and women of all skin types can benefit from microdermabrasion.  Microdermabrasion is effective in reducing fine lines, enlarged pores, age spots, acne scars and improves overall skin tone so skin will have a rejuvenated look, and a refreshed feeling.  Microdermabrasion stimulates the production of skin cells and collagen.
